Six Word Story -- #FridayFlash

Woman falls, dragon catches. Fight. Death.

Note1: This story was inspired by Estrella Azul, whose six words story can be read here. Thanks Estrella for the inspirational push! I never thought I'd be able to tell a story in six words before you gave it a try. :)

Note2: I found that amazing picture here, where you can find other cool dragon stuff. I almost used this picture to the story, (scroll down a bit) but I didn't want to lead your imagination as to who won the battle. ;)

  1. Love that dragons recur on your blog, Mari. Such neat creatures. Too chivalrous, too. Let the woman fall and you'll be fine!

Ahem. So a troll might say.

  2. This is great, Mari. You know how I feel about dragons, anyway. LOVE that picture up there.

Well done, and in only six words. Love it. :)

  3. --John: Err, aren't you an ogre? What happened? lol

I love dragons, probably as much as Gracie but I don't get to write them as well as she does. Besides, the trolls took over so my dragon is sleeping for now.

--Gracie: I thought you'd like it, heh. (the picture I mean)

I'd like to actually write this story one day. Hmm, my subconscious is working now, let's see if something will come out? ;)

  4. Love the photo! Great six word...leaves it up to the reader as to who won.

  5. Succinct. Dramatic. Chivalrous. Firebreathing excitement. Swell.

  6. Very nice. The picture goes with the story quite well.

  10. --Laura, Eric, Melissa and Deanna: Thanks! Glad you all liked this. :)

--Cathy: That's the best six-word comment to a six-word story I've ever seen, heh. Thanks!

--Estrella: Thank *you* for the inspiration! :)

  11. Perfect grasp of narrative structure, all boiled down to six words. Bravo!

  13. Perfect!
The accompaniment of the picture as well.

I love dragons, so I dont mind losing the odd woman to one of them ;-)

  15. Amusing. There are 100 letter stories (twabble's) & Drabblecast holds a contest in them every week.

  16. What a fantastic way of story-telling. Good idea and takes skill :)

  17. Nice, but the notes are way longer than the story!

  19. --Icy: Wow, thanks! :)

--Olive: Thanks dear. I love the picture too!

--mazz: Thanks! Dragons must eat after all, don't they? Even if we're talking about a cool warrior and/or sorcerer woman who's an actual menace to them, heh.

--Nathan: Devianart rocks! I didn't know they have six word stories there too. Must check it out.

--Aidan: I think I've heard about a 100 word format of storytelling. Thanks for the reference, I'll check it out as soon as I can. :)

--brainhaze: Thanks! The six word story idea is not really mine. However, if you're talking about the story in itself, I appreciate the complimentary comment. :)

    David: You're so right! lol

I have this thing about sharing the source of all pictures I use on my posts and when applicable the inspiration for the story. Sometimes I add extra info, hence the long notes on this one, hhe.

--Sam: Thanks! Can't wait to see what's coming from your side. From your comment I see it's good stuff already. ;)

  20. I loved it! I feel weird about leaving a comment longer than the story... but, I did ;-)

  21. I love these six word stories. Well done.

  22. --2: I can relate with your weird feeling, having written notes way much longer than the story itself, heh.

    --Rachel: Thanks!

  23. It amazing what one can pack into a few words. And an open-ended ending to the story...does the woman die, or the dragon...hmmm? Nice!

    ReplyDelete
  24. --Alan: Thanks! I thought a close ending would be lame, and to be honest, I'm not sure I could produce one, heh.

  25. Loved it Mari! Just wrote something about Dragons myself- gotto love the imaginary beings :)

  26. --Lua: Thanks! I'm heading to your place to read it. Dragons rock! heh

  27. Ernest Hemingway was once challenged by a critic to tell a story in one paragraph. He did it in one sentence :

For sale : baby shoes, never used.

Six words. You walk after the masters, Mari.

  28. --Roland: You flatter me sir... *blushes* Thank you! :)

  29. Ahh, but whose death? Short and snappy. Very nice. :)

  30. --Laurita: Open endings can be annoying, can't they? heh But I thought that directing the fight's result would make the story lame, so there. ;)
