This is an early #FridayFlash to remind people of the last day to enter the Writer's Pets Contest. Check out the rules here. ;)
My entry is called "Smarty Girl", which I reproduced below for your delight, and the picture that goes with it is the one on the side. Care to share your opinion on it? :) (No comments on the nose's size, please. I'm aware of that! :P)

She sniffed the air. Something had changed, she could feel
it. Yes! Beloved was coming home! Tale sweeping the air, she ran to the top of
the stairs and lay down, looking expectantly at the front door. When Beloved
put the key on the hole, she shouted her warm welcome waggling so hard that her
whole body moved along with her ventilator-tale.
But as soon as the door opened she stopped barking, letting
her borrowed sister do the job instead. Of course Beloved didn’t like the
noise, she never did. She went up the stairs ignoring the excited dogs and
shushing the white little sister, who kept calling out despite the firm
commands. Beloved went up to the second floor, left her bag on her room and came
down again, going to the back of the house where she sat in a chair and looked
down at her lovelies. They were still panting with those round shiny eyes, filled
with infinite love, earning for her attention.
Aww tht's so cute! Dogs do love one! (but so do cats!) Nice story!
ReplyDelete@Helen: Thanks! Their cuteness took hold of me, heh.
ReplyDeleteAre they really excited to see us? Or do they just have to pee? (LOL.. I know, it's both!)
ReplyDeleteNice story, Mari. And a cute wee dog!
Such a cute story! I could just see the wiggling doggies, and the last line got a giggle out of me.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that the master (I presumed you) was named Beloved.
ReplyDelete@Cathy: They *really* like when you guys visit! :D
ReplyDelete@Eric: Your chuckle made my day!
@John: Yeah, it's an inspiration from Winter Adventures of a Cushion-Dog, which is inspired on the British expression "best beloved" :)
aww that's such a cute story! dogs are cuddly and affectionate, aren't they?
ReplyDelete@Sonia: They are! And that's all we need sometimes: affection. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet story, Mari. I'm away from mine this weekend and the story reminds me how much miss them.
ReplyDeleteHappiness is a warm puppy. I also love that they call you Beloved.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet. Our pets really do live the life!
ReplyDelete@Kim: Yeah, I hate leaving them at home to go to work. You know, detaching oneself from the pack is unnatural, heh.
ReplyDelete@Tim: Oh, you remind me of them warming my feet at night!
@Craig: They do! :)
Great story, Mari. You captured the excitement dogs seem to exude. While our cats are certain to be happy to see us again, they don't like to surrender their dignity. :-)
ReplyDelete@Kevin (KjM): True. One of the reasons why I'm more of a dog person, is that dogs don't care at all, they just want to make you happy.
ReplyDeleteCute! Dogs are never satisfied with a head rub, are they? They always want the belly rub too. :)
ReplyDelete@Chuck: Oh, especially mine! :D
ReplyDeleteSo, the contest will be defined with your participation. Click here to cast your vote. :)
ReplyDeleteThis does a nice job of capturing a dog's personality.
ReplyDelete@Aidan: Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDogs all the way.
ReplyDeleteAdam B @revhappiness
@Adam: Oh yeah, if you had any doubts I'm a dog person, now you're 100% sure. ;)
ReplyDeleteA super late update, this story got the 3rd place on the contest. That's way more than I expected, so I'm really happy. :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Mari, I loved your entry :)
