Believe it or not, his artwork is produced with acrylic and gouache. So, if you need further confirmation, no, it's not 3D computer made illustration. Crazy, eh?
His themes range from beautifully psychedelic, as seen above, to a curiously disturbing social criticism,
What I didn't quite understand is his fixation with lamps. You can see more of his work here, or on his website, Distanfeerism.
If you get the lamp thing, would you come back here and tell me? I'm rather curious, heh.
Note: He changes periodically the artwork showcased in his website, so I'd advise you visiting him often. ;)
Bizarre but fascinating!
ReplyDelete--Merrilee: Indeed! I like the bizarre, heh. ;)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the panties thing. I've never quite understood that.
ReplyDeleteBut really fantastic art!
--Phyl: A Japanese descendant, friend of mine, just told me he doesn't get that either. So I give up. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what you mean by lamps. The flattish round things above and below the figure are meant to evoke the tops and bottoms of the plastic see-through cases that collectible figurines come in, right? That's what they look like to me.
ReplyDeleteohhhh, you mean those megaphone-looking things at the base? Like they're illuminating a statue, huh?
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't get the lamp or panty thing either, but he is an incredible artist! :)
ReplyDelete--Debbie (dosankodebbie): Yes, the megaphone-looking things show up in many of his paintings, other than the ones I've put here.
ReplyDeleteBesides the ones that look like lamps illuminating the statue girl, there's one right below another girl's "behind", so to speak, heh. He does that a lot, which intrigues me.
--Jemi: Thanks for the visit! What a relieve to have a computer back, eh? :D
I might be mistaken, but the panties thing is some sort of cultural fetish. The Japanese men have a thing for school girl looking women with short skirts, it seems. It'll all over the animes (Japanese animation). Each culture has its curiosities, right? heh
Indeed, the art is incredible!
Beautiful! Trust Mari to bring beauty to your life just when you think there's only ugliness in the material world...
ReplyDeleteFormer-Witch: Thank you my dear, this is some compliment!
ReplyDeleteI knew you'd like this one, heh. Glad it came right on time. :D
The first is definitely the best piece of these - I love that kind of circle geometry.
ReplyDeleteI dind't think of lamps straightaway - they looked more like parts of a fairground carousel (albeit a surreal one - then again they are rather surreal as lamps :))
--Dan (Agnieszkas Shoes): You have an awesome imagination!
ReplyDeleteWhat I couldn't get off my mind is where the lamps are pointing to. Maybe it's part of the "cultural fetish" I mentioned? lol
Either way, I agree with you both that the first piece is the best (which is why it's on the spot light, so to speak, heh) and that the paintings are somehow surreal.
I have a particular liking for all Japanese forms of art. I'm frequently surprised and in awe of what these people are capable of creating. :)
