We often discuss how we all see the world differently. It's so interesting. He loved the sea since he was a child and while he was very happy to come home and see his wife and two girls, I think he was the happiest when he sailed off to other lands and cultures.

Naturally, he brought back presents and lots of stories.

I love to travel and enjoy meeting and learning and expanding my little world through all the many interesting encounters one can enjoy.

Keeping and open mind, and ear, is a wonderful way to live a life.

Thank you Mari-girl for these thoughts.Marisa Birnshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17945909737147497606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847825514463125840.post-51417863377424986212010-04-06T02:59:19.725+02:002010-04-06T02:59:19.725+02:00P.S. One of the most important influences in my growing (up) was a history teacher who taught me of how a historical event may be perceived as 'positive' for one person/country, and 'negative' for another.

I see him as responsible for a part of me that I'm really proud of! (besides my family, of course) I'm so happy that you teach this to your students!

Yay to more open minded people coming to the world! :D

>> Sarah (pussreboots): Thanks you! They are meant to make the reading easier. By your words it seems I've achieved my goal. *grins*

>> Mari-girl (Marisa): How interesting, Mari-girl! I didn't know your father was a marine merchant. You must have missed him greatly in his absences, but I bet the gifts and stories that came back with him were worthy, yes? ;)

Thanks for the compliment! This blog is much about sharing pretty things with you guys, as it's meant to trigger thoughts and ideas; besides the fun part, of course, heh. I'm thrilled that you liked the paintings as well. :DMarihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08570428969140414779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847825514463125840.post-34748092240707168562010-04-06T15:05:18.498+02:002010-04-06T15:05:18.498+02:00Beautiful photos!I love to travel for those very r...Beautiful photos!
I love to travel for those very reasons, although a quick walk-through sadly doesn't give me perspective. The 'easiest' way, IMO, is living abroad, or at least having contact (the closest the better) with people from other cultures and views.

I agree about the problem with hate & misunderstandings. However, if they're too centered on their own viewpoint, aren't we the ones who are more likely to be open minded? I believe we should. :)Marihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08570428969140414779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6847825514463125840.post-90121024444551572102010-04-07T00:35:45.862+02:002010-04-07T00:35:45.862+02:00Akk!
